Donut Shack opened its doors in the mid to late 1970s (the exact year is still being researched!) after some employees of the Dunkin Donuts in Glen Burnie figured out that they could do what Dunkin Donuts was doing, but better.
The original Donut Shack was successful and over the next 10 years changed hands a few times. Finally, Bill and Stacey Prevezanos became owners in 1985.
Over the course of the next 35 years, Bill and Stacey took the small donut shop and turned it into a local institution. They worked tirelessly to provide 24 hour service to the community, putting in 70-80 hours of work per week. Bill cut each donut by hand and Stacey had her hand in all the finishing.
In 2019, after many hours over many years, Bill and Stacey sold the store. That owner quickly decided to move on and the operation passed to the current owners in January of 2020.
The Donut Shack was purchased by a small group of locals who understand what the shop means to the community and who wanted to bring it back to its former glory.
Everything you loved about the original Shack was there but with some updated touches. Don't fix what isn't broken, right!?
The doors opened on February 29, 2020. It was an amazing day and the love from the community was flowing freely. Then...... March 10th...... COVID...... Late winter/early spring was spent serving outdoors. New infrastructure was needed and staff was hard to come by.
The team came together and pushed through two years of pandemic impacts, growing stronger and more resilient with each day.
The Shack is back to operating as a community asset. Come in early any day and join the Coffee Club as they solve the world's problems. Find a seat on a weekend morning and watch as your friends and neighbors come in; you'll almost always run into a friendly face.
We have also added online ordering and weekend delivery to make it a little easier for everybody to access. With tight schedules and commitment heavy calendars, we appreciate customers who take the time to make us part of their day.
We look forward to continuing to grow and to watching our community grow. Thank you all for your continued patronage!
